Independent Living Skills Specialist

  • Starting pay : $16.50
  • Part time : 20hrs per week


ILS training is direct training from a staff person to address the identified skill development needs of a person in the areas of:

  • Communication skills
  • Community living and mobility
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Reduction/elimination of maladaptive behavior
  • Self-care
  • Sensory/motor development involved in acquiring functional skills.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Providing independent living skills training.
  • Submit reports in an accurate and timely manner including narratives, timesheets, and care plans.
  • Personal experience with physical/mental disabilities and/or knowledge of disability issues and the
    client/community.
  • Proficiency in computer and word processing operations.
  • Professional, friendly, and understanding.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work efficiently with a team as well as individually with minimal direction.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Able to consistently maintain and build positive working relationships.
  • Willing to learn new information daily.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Punctual and dependable.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must pass a DHS background study.
  • CPR/First Aid (Required)
  • Maintain current driver’s license in good standing and comprehensive auto insurance
  • Education/Training: A Bachelor’s Degree in the areas of social work, psychology, sociology.

Specific qualifications for this role include.

  • 1-year experience in Human Services Field
  • Current CPR Certification/First Aid required by state regulations
  • Current Driver’s License
